Good afternoon Resident Two shoplifters that travelled into Hertfordshire in September last year have now been found guilty of theft following a lengthy court process.
Samuel Jackson and Ebony Lawman both of Ashmead Road, Bedford visited Bickerdikes Garden Centre on Norton Road, Letchworth on the 23rd September 2024 and stole a significant amount of Jellycat branded plush toys valued at over £500 by filling their backpacks and coat pockets before leaving the store.
Both initially pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set. Both Jackson and Lawman subsequently failed to attend court, Jackson on more than one occasion. Both were later arrested by officers from Bedfordshire Police and appeared in court whereby upon viewing the CCTV evidence they suddenly remembered they were in fact guilty and changed their pleas.
Both were ordered to pay a £200 fine and £250 each in compensation to the business owner. Jackson was also fined an additional £25 for each time he failed to attend court.
